Sandpiper Corporation announced today that the recently launched LXE MX7CS cold storage handheld computer has been selected by McBurneys for use in its cold storage warehousing facilities as part of a trade in program.
The MX7CS rugged handheld computer is built for freezer and cold storage applications. Designed with low temperature batteries, specialised heaters, and conformal coating, the MX7CS unit adapts easily from the freezing temperatures of the cold storage facility to warmer staging and dock. This smooth, condensation free transition will allow operators to increase productivity.
“The temperature in our cold stores is -25°C so we needed a handheld rugged enough to operate in those harsh conditions. In selecting the MX7CS, another important factor was the unit’s ergonomics: it’s convenient to use with gloves, has a handle with a two-finger trigger, big keys and a very bright display,” stated Steve Serna, McBurneys IT Manager. “Also being a 24/7 operation, we felt that the MX7CS would ensure we kept downtime to a minimum”, continued Steve.
Cold storage is a significant and growing part of the supply chain market. More than 60 percent of foodstuffs require temperature controlled conditions, according to the European Cold Storage and Logistics Association. LXE’s cold storage computing products give cold storage facility operations all the benefits of mobile computing and automatic data capture, without compromises.
