Sandpiper continues to support McBurney Refrigeration in its expansion

Over the past 40 years, The McBurney Transport Group has grown substantially to become one of Ireland's largest independently run logistics operations, offering a wide and varying range of transportation and warehousing services 'tailored' to meet each of its customer's needs throughout Northern Ireland, UK, Republic of Ireland & Europe. McBurney Transport has a diverse customer base of over 200 companies throughout the entire range of industry sectors. Its fleet includes 1100 vehicles & trailers and the company currently employs 600 staff throughout its depots offering a quality service to all its customers.

McBurney provides transportation of full and part loads of dry/ ambient, temperature controlled, chilled and frozen goods, as well as raw materials, specialised loads, paper for recycling and hazardous goods. Whilst also providing distribution & home delivery services, vehicle, trailer & driver hire, consolidation and cross docking of loads.

For eight years Sandpiper has provided the wireless infrastucture, handheld and truckmount mobile computers for McBurney Refrigeration in both ambient and -30 Celsius, cold store areas in the UK warehouse in Liverpool. Recently McBurney has expanded the use of LXE devices in their cold store area implementing LXE MX7CS handheld computers used in forklift truck, vehicle cradles and utilising Lorax near / far range scanners all supplied, supported and maintained through Sandpiper Corporation.

“Cold storage facilities create unique challenges for data collection equipment and wireless networks. Moving in and out of the cold all day creates condensation, causing computer screens to fog up, keyboards to seize up, and internal parts to corrode. You need a device built to combat these problems, which the LXE MX7CS provides for us.’ said Steve Serna of McBurney Refrigeration.
